      <abstract>San Francisco State University's Romberg Tiburon Center  for Environmental Studies (RTC) established a water quality monitoring program at the RTC pier in San Francisco Bay called San Francisco Bay Environmental Assessment and Monitoring System (SF-BEAMS). Now part of the California State University Center for Integrative Coastal Observation, Research and Education (CICORE) program the site is part of a State-wide integrated effort to monitor coastal and estuarine water quality. Sampled parameters include: Water Temperature(degC), Conductivity(S/m), Water Pressure(dBar), Turbidity(Volt), Chlorophyll Fluorescence(Volt), Transmissivity(%), PAR(umol/m2/s), Salinity(PSS), Density(kg/m3)</abstract>
      <purpose>The purpose of these data are to provide scientists and  regulators the water quality data needed to address environmental issues related to the California coastal region. In addition, real time unrestricted access to these data have additional benefits to commerce and the public.</purpose>
      <supplinf>The water quality data are posted in  real time. Five day archives of the data are posted live on the SF-BEAMS web site for immediate viewing and retrieval. Archived data, also accessible on the web site, are archived as monthly files for the current year and annual files for previous years. The sensors, SeaBird CTDs and mated auxiliary instruments, are calibrated annually at the manufacturers facility.
